Fact First with RSB: Tools, Mistakes & Media Online Training Session Empowers Journalists on Fact-Checking

Dhaka, September 13, 2025 — Rumor Scanner, in collaboration with Daily Kalbela, successfully organized an online training session titled “Fact First with RSB: Tools, Mistakes & Media.” The session, held via Google Meet from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on 13 September, 2025, focused on enhancing the fact-checking capacity of journalists to address the growing challenges of misinformation and disinformation.

A total of 35 journalists joined the training, including 5 female and 30 male participants from different media outlets. The session was facilitated by Sayeem Hasan, Head Researcher of Rumor Scanner, who shared practical insights on fact-checking methods, common mistakes in media reporting, and digital verification tools.

The program was hosted by Md. Shahinur Islam, Program Officer at Rumor Scanner, and coordinated by Palash Mahmud, Editor (Online), Daily Kalbela. Palash Mahmud highlighted that this session would help journalists acquire essential fact-checking knowledge, enabling them to play a stronger role in the fight against misinformation and disinformation.

This collaborative training was implemented under “Strengthening Resilience Against Disinformation’’ project and reflects Rumor Scanner and Daily Kalbela’s shared commitment to strengthening the media’s capacity in combating disinformation and upholding ethical journalism.
